- 86% or higher maximum resists counts as absorb.
- Energy shield and Cyclone armor count as one absorb for all elements
- exception to the above three rules is lightning resistance, where you can use Thundergod's Vigor and 90% resistance when no Energy shield or Cyclone armor. If Energy shield or Cyclone armor is used, you can use Thundergod's Vigor.
- Exception is Nightwing's Veil helm, which can be used with Energy shield or Cyclone armor without counting it as absorb.
- Thundergod's Vigor is not allowed vs Hybrid/Melee Assassin
- All resist limits in rules include resists gained from items, charms, Anya quest rewards and Barbarian natural resist skill. Resist rule only applies when it has effect(vs lower resist, conviction, sorc cold skills)

- All chars may use 2 cold absorbs vs Blizzard Sorceress.
- Barbarian, Necromancer, Melee/hybrid Assassin and Druid may use 2 cold absorb items vs any Sorceress.

Blackoak Shield counts as 2 absorb items alone.
- Maximum fire and lightning resistance cap is 90%
Non-Class skills and auras
- Note: This section only applies when YOUR character is using non-class skills or auras !!
Under normal conditions, only skills which are natural to your class can be used unless otherwise defined elsewhere. However, if you want to use skills of other classes or paladin auras from items (but not charges) (i.e. Teleport from Enigma or Defiance Aura from Exile*), your character is further restricted:
- Asn: max DR 20%
- Barb: max DR 20%
- Druid: max DR 20%
- Pala: max DR 20%
- all chars: maximum resistance cap 85% and no absorb except for Thundergod's Vigor and Nightwing's Veil
- Characters using Teleport** or ranged attack are allowed maximum 15% chance to block.
*Exile was chosen as an example intentionaly: Paladin who uses items which grants auras also counts as using 'other class skill/aura', because under normal conditions he can't use 2 auras simultaneously
**including sorceress using some non-class skills (like BO)
